Our products are inspired from a design concept influenced by today's trend of interior design and eventually will become dated where it's routinely replaced every 4 to 8 years depending on hotel brand. While we hope to be involved with the renovation process when the time comes, our products could be liquidated or discarded. Our mission to ensure our products have the lowest effect on the environment by taking control of how and where we source our raw materials.
It came as no surprise to find the lack of concern from factories in certain regions of the world and where the main excuse was the cost to replace the current systems in place. We decided to find the factories who already utilized Earth's own natural raw materials including bamboo, cork, hemp and cotton. In addition to transitioning our purchasing to these factories, we now source our aluminum extrusions from recycled material and remain committed to recycling our waste while inspecting overages for reusability. We ended all use of engineered wood products and source from natural wood.
Our focus remains on plastic which is the most difficult to ensure biodegradable content where conversion to a bioplastic is hampered with high conversion costs 2 to 3 times more expensive than conventional plastics and sourcing has found production levels hindered by low yields. Until there's sanctions in place that forbid use of plastics harming our oceans, we found ourselves at a dead end.
The recent introduction of Green PE has provided an incredible process composing polyethylene with sugarcane allowing it to store the atmospheres' CO2 during its growth cycle. This method conserves scarce fossil fuels, reduces CO2 emission and is 100% recyclable at end of life. We're becoming more involved and hope to do our part in spreading the word, so it will become popular to reduce the current costs converting plastic components to this method.
We're hopeful businesses worldwide will become sustainably responsible by decreasing their carbon footprint and make a world of difference.
